Gilbert and Mary Herrington started Deep Eddy Washateria in 1953. The original location was on Lake Austin Blvd. by Deep Eddy Swimming Pool. After 4 years in the clothes cleaning business, Mr. Herrington started cleaning rugs and carpet. The name was changed to Deep Eddy Rug and Carpet Cleaners in 1957. After being in downtown Austin for over 30 years Deep Eddy opened its location on Burnet LANE. Deep Eddy has been in its present location for over 20 years.

Ron Herrington, who went to work for his father after graduating from the University of Texas, took over the company in 1976. In October of 2014 Ron Herrington decided it was time to retire. He sold the company to his brother-in-law and long time general manager Bill Foulds. Bill has been with the company since 1982. Deep Eddy is still a family operated business as both of Bill’s sons work here.

Deep Eddy was the first company to have truck mount cleaning in the state of Texas and the first to install rainwater rug washing in America. Deep Eddy Rug and Carpet Cleaners is still owned and operated like a small family business with total attention to customer satisfaction.
